Countertops for kitchens and baths: new tops, repair and resurfacing

New countertops for kitchens and bathrooms, and repair and resurfacing for the ones you already have. We work across Skagit, Snohomish, Island and Whatcom Counties, on countertops alone or as part of a home renovation.

What this covers

  • New and replacement countertops for kitchens and bathrooms
  • Granite resurfacing: pits and voids filled with color-matched epoxy, then the stone re-polished and resealed
  • Solid-surface repair: cracked seams fixed and blended to match
  • The work around the top: sink and faucet hookups by certified plumbers, and outlets along the backsplash, which can stay with us under our residential electrical license

How we handle a countertop job

For a repair, we look closely at the damage at the site visit: how deep the pits or cracks go, and whether the top is sound. Then we tell you plainly whether repairing it or replacing it makes more sense.

For a new countertop, we start underneath. The cabinets need to be level and solid, and the sink, faucet and outlets need a plan before the old top comes off. The written proposal lists the removal, the new top, the plumbing and electrical, and the finish work line by line.

Stone repair is careful, staged work. On a granite kitchen on Camano Island, every pit was filled with color-matched epoxy before the tops were polished in stages, from coarse to very fine diamond grits, then sealed and buffed.

At the end we walk the finished tops with you and go over how to care for the surface.

Questions people ask

Can a pitted or dull granite countertop be saved?

Often, yes. Pits and small voids can be filled with color-matched epoxy, and the stone re-polished and resealed. We look at it first and tell you plainly if replacing it makes more sense.

Can a cracked seam be fixed without a new countertop?

Many can. On a solid-surface top in Bellingham, a cracked seam was repaired with color-matched adhesive and sanded to blend. Whether yours can depends on the crack, so we look at it first.

Who hooks up the sink and faucet?

Plumbing is done by certified plumbers, as part of our job, so you deal with one contractor.

Can the countertops be part of a bigger kitchen job?

Yes. Countertops are often one piece of a home renovation, along with cabinets, flooring, lighting and paint.
