Interior and exterior painting in Skagit, Snohomish, Island and Whatcom Counties
Fresh paint protects wood and siding and makes a house feel cared for. We paint interiors and exteriors, and we stain decks, railings, fences and cedar, as a job on its own or as the finish on a bigger project. Because we're a general contractor, the carpentry repairs that should come before the paint can be part of the same job.

What this covers
- Exterior painting: siding, trim, window casings, doors and skirting
- Interior painting: walls, ceilings, trim and doors
- New drywall taped, textured and painted
- Deck, railing, post and fascia staining
- Fence stain and sealer
- Cedar and other wood finishes, such as a stained shiplap ceiling
- Painting new work to match the house, like an enclosure or a shed
How we handle a painting job
Most of a good paint job is preparation. At the site visit we look at what's peeling, what's soft or rotted, and what needs repair before any paint goes on. Painting over a rotten board only hides the problem for a while, so we write the repair into the scope.
The written scope lists the surfaces, the prep and the coats. You choose the colors, and we can brush out a sample patch first so you can see it in your own light. During the work we cover floors, plants and anything nearby, and we clean up as we go. At the walkthrough, we look at the finished work together in good light.
Work we've done

Manufactured home exterior repaint
Repainted the exterior of a manufactured home: tan siding with crisp white trim, window surrounds and bay window, plus two-tone skirting.
- Full exterior repaint of vertical-panel siding
- White trim, window casings and bay window
- Two-tone painted skirting
Unfinished basement turned into a home office
Finished a basement as a home office: framed and furred walls along the foundation, insulation, drywall, texture, paint, trim and three new doors.
- 2x4 furring walls held off the concrete foundation, with R-13 batts and rigid foam insulation
- Half-height door for under-stair storage, plus an exhaust fan to control moisture
- The homeowners hired us again for more work
Deck restoration with new railings
Restored a deck: pressure-washed and sanded it, replaced worn deck boards and support posts, built new railings with infill panels, installed new fascia, and stained the deck, rails, posts and fascia.
- Worn deck boards and failing support posts replaced
- New railing posts and infill railing panels
- Deck, rails, posts and fascia sanded and stained
Propane tank enclosure rebuilt
Tore out a rotting propane tank enclosure and built a new one with a pressure-treated frame, T1-11 siding painted to match the house, and a white vinyl lattice front for airflow. All debris hauled away.
- Old, sagging enclosure demolished and removed
- New pressure-treated wood frame
- T1-11 siding painted to match the house color

Attached timber patio cover
Designed and built, through trades we hired, an open-sided timber patio cover attached to the house over an existing backyard slab, to plans drawn with a structural engineer. Shingles, flashing and gutters match the house.
- Four engineered concrete footings
- 8x8 posts and glulam beams under an exposed gable truss
- Cedar shiplap ceiling finished with two coats of stain
Rental fence and gate repair
Repaired a rental property's wood fence and gate: pulled the old posts, set two new 4x4 posts, cleaned the fence and replaced nails, re-hung two fence sections and the gate, and finished with stain and cedar sealer.
- Two new 4x4 posts set in 2-ft-deep holes
- Fence sections and gate re-attached to the new posts
- Finished with wood stain and cedar sealer

Questions people ask
Do you paint manufactured homes?
Yes. The repaint above was a manufactured home: siding, trim, the bay window and the skirting, each in its own color.
Can you fix rotten trim before you paint?
Yes. Carpentry repairs and painting can be one job with one point of contact. We'll point out what we find at the site visit and write it into the scope.
Do you stain decks and fences?
Yes. We've stained decks, railings and fascia. We look at the wood first, because worn or gray boards often need cleaning and sanding before stain will take evenly.
