Fence building and repair in Skagit, Snohomish, Island and Whatcom Counties

A good fence starts with posts that are set solid and a line that runs straight. We build new wood fences and gates, and we repair the ones that lean, sag or are missing boards, for homes and rentals across the four counties.

What this covers

  • New wood fences and gates
  • Fence repair: new posts, re-hung sections and replaced boards
  • Gates: re-hanging, new hinges and latches
  • Stain and sealer on new or existing fences
  • 3D layouts of a proposed fence and gate over an aerial view of the property, drawn in-house

How we handle a fence job

At the site visit we walk the fence line with you. We look at where the line should run, how the ground slopes, where gates need to swing, and what's in the way: roots, rock, sprinkler lines and the corner of the garage. If you're not sure exactly where your property line is, that's worth settling before any posts go in.

For a new fence, we can draw a 3D layout first, laid over an aerial view of your property, so you can see the line and the gate before anything is built. The written scope lists the posts, rails, boards, gates and finish.

During the work, we set the posts, check the line, and hang the gate last so it swings true. Any change goes in a signed change order. At the end we walk the fence with you and make sure the gate latches the way you want it to.

Work we've done

  • Condo fence replacement with a gate for each tenant

    Oak Harbor · 2023

Replaced the old fence at a multi-unit condo property with a new cedar picket fence, laid out to follow the slope of the site and give each tenant a gate of their own.

    • Dog-ear cedar pickets on treated posts
    • Fence and gate layout drawn over aerial views of the property before work began
    • Old fence torn out and hauled away
  • Farm fence replacement with two gates

    Acme · 2023

Replaced the fence along two sides of a field of about an acre with a farm-style fence: wood posts with T-posts between them and wire fencing, in a north run and a south run, each with a gate.

    • 4x4 wood posts with T-posts set between them
    • Wire fencing on a north run and a south run, each with its own gate
    • Six-sheet fence and gate layout drawn in-house over an aerial view of the field before work began
  • Rental fence and gate repair

    2020

Repaired a rental property's wood fence and gate: pulled the old posts, set two new 4x4 posts, cleaned the fence and replaced nails, re-hung two fence sections and the gate, and finished with stain and cedar sealer.

    • Two new 4x4 posts set in 2-ft-deep holes
    • Fence sections and gate re-attached to the new posts
    • Finished with wood stain and cedar sealer

Questions people ask

Can you repair my fence instead of replacing it?

Often, yes. When the boards are still sound and the posts have failed, new posts and re-hung sections may be all it needs. At the site visit we'll tell you honestly which way makes sense.

Can I see the fence before it's built?

Yes. We can draw a 3D layout of the fence and gates over an aerial view of your property, so you can check the line, the height and where the gates go.

Do you stain or seal fences?

Yes, new fences and existing ones. On a fence we repair, the stain or sealer goes on once the repairs are done.
