Roof repairs and roofing in Skagit, Snohomish, Island and Whatcom Counties
A roof leak rarely starts where the water shows up inside. We find where it's getting in, fix the damage underneath, and only then close it back up. We work on homes across Skagit, Snohomish, Island and Whatcom Counties, from our base in Mount Vernon.

What this covers
- Tracking down roof leaks and repairing them
- Rebuilding rotted or damaged sections from the sheathing up
- Flashing repairs around chimneys, vents, skylights and walls
- Moss, fir-needle and debris cleaning
- Gutter and downspout cleaning and repair (more on our siding and gutters page)
- New roofs on homes we build or manage, including standing-seam metal
How we handle a roof job
Every roof job starts with a site visit. We look at the roof and, where we can get to it, the attic or the ceiling underneath, because a stain inside often shows where the water is traveling. Then we write a scope that says what we'll repair, what it's made of, and anything else we noticed that you may want to keep an eye on.
On the job, we photograph the damage before it's covered up and again when the repair is done, so you can see what was hiding under the shingles. If we open a section and find more rot than expected, we stop and show you before the work changes, and the change goes in a signed change order. When we finish, we walk it with you and hand over the photos and paperwork. That record is handy later, when you sell the house or talk to a lender.

Custom home, Stanwood, in progress
Project management for an owner-builder's new custom home in Stanwood. We schedule and coordinate the trades, compare bids, check every contractor's license, bond and insurance before award, and line up the inspections the construction-loan draws depend on.
- Written purchase orders and change orders for each trade
- Competing bids scored side by side before awards (seven bidders for the flooring alone)
- Inspections and lender draw requests sequenced to keep the work moving

Questions people ask
Can you fix a leak without replacing the whole roof?
Often, yes. On the rental homes above, we rebuilt only the damaged sections. At the site visit we tell you plainly whether a repair makes sense, or whether the roof is near the end of its life and a repair would only buy a little time.
Is moss on my roof a problem?
Moss holds water against the shingles and can lift their edges, and fir needles clog the valleys and gutters. Clearing it is a common job around here. When we clean a roof, we look at the shingles underneath and tell you if we see damage.
Do you work on metal roofs?
Yes, on homes we build or manage, like the standing-seam roof in Stanwood. If you're thinking about metal for an existing home, tell us about it and we'll talk it through at the site visit.
Will you look at the gutters too?
Yes. Gutters and downspouts are part of keeping water off the roof edge and away from the house, so we look at them on every roof visit. See siding and gutters.
