Home renovations and remodels: kitchens, bathrooms, basements and interiors

Kitchens, bathrooms, basements and the rooms in between. We renovate homes across Skagit, Snohomish, Island and Whatcom Counties, with one contractor running the job from the first visit to the final walkthrough. The electrical can stay with us under our residential license, and plumbing is done by certified plumbers.

How we handle a renovation

A renovation happens in a home people live in, so the site visit is as much about how you use the space as about the work. We ask what isn't working, what you want to keep, and what might be behind the walls that we should plan for.

Then you get a written scope: each room and each trade, line by line. Labor and materials go on separate purchase orders. Registered contractors are chosen from competing written bids, with licensed or certified trades where the work requires it. Every change goes in a signed change order before the work changes, so the scope on paper always matches the work in your house.

As the work goes, you get dated progress photos, and lien waivers as each trade is paid. At the end we walk the finished rooms with you and hand over the documents and manuals.

Basements need a little extra thought. On a basement office in La Conner, we held the new walls off the concrete foundation with furring, insulated them with batts and rigid foam, and added an exhaust fan to help control moisture.

Questions people ask

Can we live at home during the renovation?

It depends on the scope. At the site visit we talk through how to keep a bathroom, the kitchen and your way in and out usable, and plan the work around them.

Who does the plumbing?

Plumbing on our renovations is done by certified plumbers. It's part of our scope and our paperwork, so you still deal with one contractor.

Who does the electrical?

We hold a residential electrical contractor license, WASHIC*743DE. On a home renovation, the electrical can stay with us under that license.

We have a long list. Where do we start?

Many renovations start as a list. At the site visit we go through yours room by room, and the written proposal breaks it into pieces you can do together or one at a time.
