Demolition and tear-outs in Skagit, Snohomish, Island and Whatcom Counties

Most remodels start with taking something out. We do kitchen and bath tear-outs and interior demolition, remove old sheds, lean-tos and enclosures, and haul the debris away, leaving the space clean and ready for the next step. We also bid demolition and deconstruction for public agencies.

What this covers

  • Kitchen and bath tear-outs: cabinets, countertops, sinks, appliances and fixtures
  • Interior demolition before a remodel: flooring, drywall and ceilings
  • Removing old sheds, lean-tos and enclosures
  • Loading and hauling the debris away
  • Demolition as the first phase of our own remodels and rebuilds
  • Demolition and deconstruction for public agencies (see public works)

How we handle a demolition job

Demolition goes better when it's planned. At the site visit we sort out what's coming out, what stays, and what has to be protected: the floors you're keeping, finished walls in the next room, plants, the neighbor's fence. We note which utilities need to be shut off or disconnected by the right trade before anything comes down.

The written scope says what gets removed, where the debris goes, and what the space will look like when we leave. We photograph the space before we start and once it's cleared, and if we uncover something unexpected behind a wall or under a floor, we show you before the work changes. Any change goes in a signed change order.

If you're remodeling with us, demolition is simply the first phase of the same job, with the same person in charge from tear-out to walkthrough.

Work we've done

  • Kitchen tear-out and haul-off

    2020

Tore out an old kitchen's countertops, double sink, base cabinets and range in one visit, and hauled everything away.

    • Countertops, double sink, base cabinets and range removed in one visit
    • Everything loaded straight onto our trailer and hauled off for disposal
  • Propane tank enclosure rebuilt

    La Conner · 2025

Tore out a rotting propane tank enclosure and built a new one with a pressure-treated frame, T1-11 siding painted to match the house, and a white vinyl lattice front for airflow. All debris hauled away.

    • Old, sagging enclosure demolished and removed
    • New pressure-treated wood frame
    • T1-11 siding painted to match the house color
  • Small lean-to shed with white barn-style doors, lap siding, white trim and a new gutter, Clinton

Insulated lean-to shed on a new slab

    Clinton · 2025

Replaced an old, ivy-covered lean-to with a new insulated 4 x 10 ft shed that protects a home's water-treatment equipment: poured slab, fiber-cement lap siding, architectural-shingle roof, sliding barn-style doors and a new gutter.

    • Monolithic concrete slab with thickened edges
    • Fiber-cement lap siding and trim to match the house
    • Insulated, vapor-sealed walls and ceiling to protect the water-treatment equipment
  • Retail store interior build-out (trade subcontract)

    Bellingham · 2023

Worked as a trade subcontractor to the general contractor on a national retail store's interior build-out: metal stud framing, drywall and new ductwork, through the final punch list.

    • Metal stud framing, then single-sided sheetrock hung
    • Change-order framing: re-framed cash-wrap wall, extended soffit, adjusted arch feature, shortened fitting-room wing wall
    • Old ductwork removed and new ductwork installed from our own takeoff

Questions people ask

Can you do just the demolition, and I'll take it from there?

Yes. We can do the tear-out and haul-off on its own, and leave the space clean for you or your next contractor. If you'd like us to carry on with the rebuild, it can stay one job.

Do you haul the debris away?

Yes. Hauling is part of the scope, so you're not left with a pile in the driveway. We'll agree at the site visit on where materials are staged until they're hauled.

Do you remove asbestos?

No. We don't do asbestos abatement. If a material in an older home needs testing or removal, that work goes to an abatement contractor, and we plan our part of the job around it.
